Renee Maurice - Dedications Renee Maurice
Dedications.
At just 15 years of age Renee Maurice has 37 songs of her own composition, registered with APRA. Dedications is her 2nd CD and includes 12 of these original numbers. Renee's songwriting is of a pop/soft rock genre, yet her audience appeal reaches not just the young but is well enjoyed by folk of much greater years of age. The songs all have an interesting rhythm of their own, yet careful attention to the lyrics can, and often does, unfold a hidden meaning to the keen yet discerning listener. I Am Free, is such a song, and won Renee a prize in the Play It Strange Secondary schools songwriting contest and has been performed live, by Renee, at the Telstra Clear Pacific Events Center in Manukau, in May 2005. As the album title suggests, each track is dedicated to someone who Renee assimilated to that particular track and whom also hold a special place in Renee's life.

It's About Time is an unusual work. Although the songs are performed with a keen ear for radio-friendliness, blending elements of pop, country and southern-fried gospel, they were crafted in unusual personal circumstances. In 2003, singer-songwriter Rob Winch - whose talents on vocals, guitar and bass are showcased here - had just emerged from a personally challenging decade. The batch of new songs he produced were recorded with a team of crack musicians in Nashville, thousands of kilometer's from Rob's Wellington home and studio. It has made for a rich record. More Than I Can Say.
13 year old Renee Maurice has already had a life full of challenges, born premature and diagnosed with a narrowed Aorta at age 6, then being severely injured in a car crash in 2001 that killed her grandmother and great uncle. Renee has met these challenges and uses her music to express herself. "You Are My Life"and "Dear Child" were written for her grandmother Jean, "Another Angel At My Table" in memory of Janet Frame, while"A Letter From Hope" was inspired by children of war torn countries. "Life" is a piano piece examining the various stages of life and "Picton Gold" was written to thank the people of Picton for the help and support they gave Renee allowing her to fly to Disneyland after her accident. This is Renee's debut album.
