Rhian Sheehan Rhian Sheehan.
Remixed - Music For Nature Documentaries.

Over the past year, Wellington's Rhian Sheehan has been quietly sending out music to producers in New Zealand and overseas, and giving them a clean canvas from which to remix, mashing up and even remake some of the incredible tunes from his Tiny Blue Biosphere and Paradigm Shift albums. The idea came about after Sam Scott from Phoenix Foundation asked me if the band could remix my track, An Afternoon on the Moon. I was intrigued as to what the outcome might sound like. This “reconstruction” of my work became infectious. I then approached other producers in New Zealand and overseas… and the result is an album diverse in approach, yet tangible in vision”. – Rhian Sheehan Music For Nature Documentaries features 16 fresh remixes by Minuit, Gasoline Cowboy, The Phoenix Foundation, Fiord (Antix), epsilon-blue, Jet Jaguar, Age Pryor, Ekto, Agent Alvin, Module, Signer, Interfearence (UK), The Turtle Bay Country Club (Germany) and more…

Onelung Onelung.
Nu Scientist.
Nu Scientist, by Onelung delivers a tasty mash up of funky electronic grooves, lazy beats and experimental soundscapes. On this, his fourth album, Onelung aka Kevin Tutt serves up a mouth watering smorgasbord of rhythms, dipping into a world of leftfeild sampled delights. Tunes on offer here are all sample based, and are sourced from the Internet and Kevin's own recorded samples. There is an unnerving layering of textures and strange sonic sorcery that lends an air of unpredictability to the whole proceedings - it never gets dull. Special guests include John Fraser on acoustic double bass, blues singer Stuart Petrie on the bouncy 'Royal Loop', and the ethereal Celtic influenced vocals of Rachel Bailey on 'High Rhodes.

Matt Turner AKA Romantech is co-founder of Auckland's Data:bass Network and head of its 0474:8455 recordings label. His aim is to bring a fresh approach to releasing new electronic music, not by defining a style or setting a standard, but rather breaking down the creative limitations of electronic producers seeking to reach an audience. Matt quotes " My music is generally about life in the city, life at the turn of the century, the lifespans of the different relationships we form, the significance created by the ubiquitous passing of time, and how we reflect on the way our lives play out.."

Mana Mana
Resonater.
Mana's recently released independent album 'Resonater' has European style quality sound that denotes a worldiness to their music which comes straight from the heartland of New Zealand. Their diversity creates electronic music for the pub and rock music for the ravers, well done with taste and seasoning. All the oooonst, no dodgy house undertones with good production. In a climate ruled by desolate american pop and copycat american hip-hop its no surprise that Mana find themselves more and more in demand.
